Micromax’s YU which turned heads with its Yureka is all set to launch its latest Cyanogen based Smartphone- Yu Yuphoria. The new smartphone will be launched today and following in the footsteps of Yureka, the device will be available on and the registrations for the same will start from 28th May. It even carries a lesser price tag than its predecessor; it will be available for Rs. 6999 only.

The sub Rs.10,000category is getting highly competitive with giants such as Xiomi and Lenovo launching budget smartphones with more than decent specifications. Yu has great value for money and it seems to be taking on Xiomi Redmi. The key feature of Yuphoria is its design. The company claims it is a genuinely well-designed smartphone. One look at it reminds you of Nokia Lumia 925 with a plastic rear and a metal frame. But Yuphoria’s rear case and battery is removable. The metal frame comes with soft edges around the corner and gives a good feeling upon being held. The design and 5-inch screen make it a good device to be held and extremely comfortable to be used with one hand. The company says it has a centrally-aligned design. The camera, audio port at the top and USB port are all lined up along the center. The company claims that it reduces the chances of fingers coming in between when clicking photos.

The specifications of the phone will easily blow away the competition. It offers a 5inch screen, 720p display with bright and crisp colors and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. What’s more is the 2GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage which aren’t found in devices under the same price bracket. It has an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. The smartphone runs on Cyanogen OS 12 atop Android Lollipop and offers a smooth and crisp performance.

Micromax has released two promotional videos for the smartphone. In the first video, a user accidently drops the device on the floor when someone utters “the Yuphoria is fine” before the camera is pointed towards the floor to reveal a broken tile. Both the teasers point towards the build quality and specifications of the phone.
